Graduates of the Master's programme in General Biology are qualified to obtain a PhD or research positions at the UvA and at other universities, academic institutes and international research organisations.

Alternatively, graduates are qualified for careers in management and research within industry, commercial business, the public service, governmental agencies and education.

Career opportunities are not necessarily limited to the field of study; graduates of this programme also work in:

  • the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industry
  • journalism
  • science-oriented non-profit organisations
  • banks
  • software companies
  • consultancy firms
