The council organises SILS seminars once a month to give PhDs and PDs from our institute the chance to share their research in a friendly inter-institute setting. The seminars are followed by drinks in the Common Room to stimulate further discussion and social interaction.
We ask speakers to make their presentation general enough so that anyone with a biology background will be able to follow the seminar.
Seminars are held from 16:00 - 17:00 h. Speakers will be announced via email and posters.
Upcoming seminars are announced in the SILS agenda.
Each year before summer the SILS PhD/PD Council organises the SILS Research Day. During this day, SILS employees present and share their research through presentations, Pecha Kucha sessions, a poster session, ending the day with informal dinner and drinks. We also invite external speakers.
We are currently looking into options to help new colleagues to find their way in the institute. This will involve a welcome event for new PhDs and PDs, and an informal buddy system.
The SILS PhD/PD Council supports and co-organises career events with the Faculty Career Service. Visit the Career Portal for more information.
The Faculty of Science offers a special training programme for PhDs. This programme consists of both mandatory and non-mandatory elements, such as training sessions to help you developing transferable and didactical skills like presenting, writing, teaching, or dealing with stress. It will also help you to prepare you for your next career step. Find more info & the agenda on the Faculty website (intranet).
