C.I.M. (Caroline) Reize

I am a PhD candidate in the Molecular Plant Pathology Group at the University of Amsterdam. My research focuses on the bacterial plant pathogen Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris and how it infects the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. By gaining a fundamental understanding of this plant-pathogen interaction, I want to pave the road for targeted breeding strategies that can ultimately contribute to a more sustainable production of cabbage crops, such as kale, broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts. I obtained a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Green Life Sciences Track) at the UvA and completed a research internship in the Plant Defence Genetics Lab at the University of Copenhagen, where I investigated the barley immune responses to the powdery mildew fungus.
