Microbiome adaptive strategies that govern its responsiveness to host health and well-being.

Our understanding of how microbiomes shape not just our health, but also our emotions, thoughts, and behavior is constantly evolving. To function properly, these vast microbial communities need to continuously adapt to their environment. But how can they thrive amid the ever-changing conditions of the human gut?

In her inaugural speech, Sahar El Aidy will address, among others, microbial adaptive strategies that determine the success of symbiosis. Her ultimate goal is to identify potential common mechanisms of microbial adaptability required to maintain and restore a balanced community; one that is more responsive to the needs of its host to stay healthy.
