During the final Challenging Society Session for this academic year, with the theme ‘Remaking Nature' on 22 May, Sheila Jasanoff will explore the tensions between nature and human intervention.
|Date||22 May 2018|
|Time||19:30 - 21:15|
Wherever we look, nature and man made creations are intertwined. In this period of unbridled human intervention, some see this grand experiment with mother nature as all but inevitable. Even the taboo on editing the human genome is losing force.
But should there be limits to this 'Second Creation', and what value if any do we still attach to the concept of nature? Jasanoff will argue that nature retains power as an ethical and political imaginary.
