Meet the staff of this programme
Prof. Arian van Asten - Programme Director Forensic Science
The fact that the Master Forensic Science (MFS) attracts a lot of international students is indicative of the high quality of the programme. Furthermore, the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) is strongly involved in the programme and several NFI, police and judicial experts teach in the curriculum providing a strong link to forensic practice. With my experience and network both in the criminal justice system and the scientific community, I think I can really contribute to further improving the MFS. Ideally the MFS programme is seen as an essential factor to maintain forensic expertise in the Dutch criminal justice system by educating the next generation of talented forensic scientists, experts and advisors.
Yorike Hartman PhD, Programme Coordinator Forensic Science
I’m the programme coordinator of the Master’s in Forensic Science. Forensic science for me is about disciplinary scientific knowledge as well as going beyond borders and building bridges between different scientific disciplines, science and the forensic field, and between the partners of the forensic process. This context makes for a demanding programme for students and teachers alike.
August de Heij, Study Adviser Forensic Science
I work as a study adviser for the Master programme Forensic Science and two interdisciplinary Bachelor programmes. My work is very diverse. I organise a number of information meetings for all students throughout the year and am involved in the open days of the UvA.
Lotte Mulder MSc, Assistant Coordinator
As the Assistant Coordinator, I’m involved in the organisation of excursions, the Introduction Day, Frontiers of Forensic Science lectures, and other activities and events. I’m the first point of contact for students and teachers, providing information and supporting them with practical matters. Next to administrative and organisational tasks, I also fulfil the role of Secretary of the Programme Committee.
